A shining , new mural artwork entitle ' Bloom ! ' is now on video display on the facade of New Covent Garden Flower Market , highlighting the grandness of our iconic market place and the people who work within .
‘ Bloom ! ’ by the south - east London based BLKbrd Collective was chosen after more than 230 artists give in piece of work as part of New Covent Garden ’s one-year Vitrine Art Commission . It ’ll be on display until October 2021 .
It ’s a celebratory wall painting of the marketplace and its constitutional worker , highlighting the importance of the yield , veggie and floral industries that keep London running . BLKbrd Collective ’s more late work has been used by news organisations to exemplify and celebrate primal workers on the frontline of the Covid-19 pandemic .

Now into its second year , the Vitrine Art Commission is a three - year public art opening move funded by St. Modwen in association with CGMA and brought to fruition by London ’s bombastic contemporaneous arts festival , Art Night . The aim is to promote and nurture emerge artists , working within picture taking , painting , text , example , and other two - dimensional mediums .
“ More than ever it ’s authoritative to rein the benefit of community feeling , celebrate the richness of the artistic creation and celebrate the diversity of our society , ” allege St Modwen ’s Rob Williams . “ This graphics installation does all of those thing and we are proud to be backing this important local task for another year . ”

This year date an all - time high in submission , as artist from around the world vie for the chance to design the artwork , inspired by the refreshful produce that New Covent Garden Market is famous for alongside the market ’s physical setting and residential district .
Bloom ! bid passer - by and marketplace visitors an approachable insight into the patronage and custom of our market – traditionally not visible to the public due to the market ’s nighttime - prison term workings time of day .
