Is anyone out there in a hurry?
Is anyone out there in a hurry ? Are you working three jobs , have seven children , or on your way to a fire ? This no - digplantingmethod is the dissipated means to avegetable garden – a soil udder can be plant in under 60 second ( I clocked it ) . Planting directly into a dish of topsoil is also soft and commodious .
At first glance , this may bet like a less - than - organic approach , what with the plastic and all . However , there are a few great reasons to try this method yourself . The first reason being the one that I refer above . You may have the desire to growfresh veggiesor herbs but keep looking dispiritedly at the calendar wonder where the heck you ’re going to find oneself the time to make a suitable seam for them .
Another great reason is if you feel intimidate by the whole idea of figuring out the size of it and structure of agarden bottom . After all , it seems like every garden book you pluck up has a dissimilar formula for amending the hardpan grime that describes your one thousand so perfectly . Inside those manuals are also legion mode to manufacture raised garden bed ; it ’s enough to befuddle anyone . Perhaps you are allergic to tools . Whatever the intimidating gene is – planting soil bag are the answer .

A third reason is when the unadulterated fleck in your yard seems beyond all Leslie Townes Hope at the moment . You may have this perfectly superb blot in your thou for veggies , but what passes for soil in that spot really givessoila spoilt name . Drop a couple of soil bags there and plant to your piffling heart ’s desire ; it ’s that light . Here ’s how you do it :
Get a bag of topsoil and with a pair of scissors , make slices into the back of the bag for drainage . Then lay the soil old bag on its back ( sliced - hole - side down ) in the expanse that you desire to make your veggie bed . Use your scissors to cut a big rectangle shape of plastic off of the top of the stain bag . At this point , you but make some holes into the soil and come out your plant into them – then water .
you could alsostart seedsin the bags this way instead of using small plant begin if you ’d like . During the growing time of year , feel gratuitous to mulch the soil bag beds with compost , forage clippings , and the like . The plants will profit from a niggling spoil and it ’ll help your bottom in the retentive run . If you desire to hide the soil bags for aesthetic or delusory reason , mulch the bags with enough straw or hay to cover them .

If you want to planttomatoesthis way , then use one bagful per tomato plant to get the best results . Otherwise , you may put several pepper plants in one bag , etc .
At the end of the growing season , rive the plastic out of the bedding area and arrange the land ( and the added amendments ) . This will be the beginning of enhancing any stinky soil that was underneath the bags to begin with . In the picture , I used a rather great cup of tea of grime for my Lemon Boy tomato plant , but there ’s no verse or reason for this – it ’s just what we had ready to hand .
- The Lycopersicon esculentum plant life in the picture was planted as an example . We just happen to have it on the lawn when we embed it . We have it sit in an all - rock ‘n’ roll arena at this point to arise in a seat that otherwise would have been useless in our railyard .
