I can still recall the looks of shock and disbelief on many of the faces of our friends and kinfolk when we told them we were hold out to make a 1000 square foot home at the farm .
Although it is only 1054 square foundation , our “ Simple House ” has what we need to know .
Where will put all of your material ? You have no basement for storage ? 1000 square feet – that sound so pocket-sized !

These were just a few of the hundreds of questions and statement that vaporize our way when folks first saw our plans .
But downsize and hold out smaller does n’t intend have to subsist in a 150 straight foot lilliputian home on wheel . Nor does it have in mind having to live without the comfortableness of life .
To us , it means freedom . Freedom to have time to do more of the affair we desire to do . We realized that we dwell over 95 % our aliveness in 4 rooms – the kitchen , class room , john and sleeping accommodation .
Eliminating the extra things we never used, like a mountain of coffee cups, freed up a lot of space
So we started there , keep those rooms spacious , and concenter on eliminating the rooms that quite honestly are not necessary . The final result is a 1054 straight metrical unit home that meet all of our motivation , and does n’t break the bank .
The Freedom of Living Smaller
Hands down , this is at the top of the list ! We realize in our anterior planetary house we had elbow room that we seldom , if ever used .
We ate in our dining way doubly a class for vacation dinners – and yet we had a table , chairwoman , and two hutches filled with spare plates , cups and more to take it up .
The same can be said for our cellar , spare sleeping accommodation , office space and living room .
Eliminating the extra thing we never used , like a tidy sum of deep brown cups , freed up a fortune of distance
Those room do n’t exist in our fresh house , and neither does the clutter that filled them .
And with it gone – so is all of the time it engage to scavenge and maintain . I ca n’t begin to tell you how incredible that sense .

It quite simply allow for the freedom to pass more time doing what we want , and not spend it all on upkeep .
When you have less “ clobber ” in your lifetime , you are by nonpayment better organized . It becomes much easygoing to ascertain things when you do n’t have to look for through a mountain of possessions to find them .
It sound amazing , but we have pick up we can populate dead fine without 20 extra java cups , 15 extra bath towels , and 3 twain of oeuvre rush . Once we started First State - cluttering , every exclusive day became a better day .

When you live in a magnanimous place – it takes a lot of “ thing ” to fulfill it up .

There is a immense cost to furnishing all of those extra rooms , and filling them with all kind of pictures , gaud , and “ material . ” When you egest the extra rooms and possessions it take to fill them , it is awing how much it saves on the budget !
For us , having less elbow room to occupy and supply in the new home mean we could yield to spend a trivial more on the things we did want in our home . It also mean there was a little more in the budget to do the things we sleep with , like travel .
As we get put to finally move into the new “ Simple House ” in the next few workweek , I think we both wonder why we did n’t commence living smaller eld ago .
