SixOnSaturday

felicitous New Gardening Year !   As I sit down here typing on Friday afternoon , the sun is polish , the sky is gloomy , some gardening has been done , so at least that is go right in the humans . I ’ve planted some plants , sorted some others out , partially vanquished the rearing jasmine .   All this leisure mostly comes to an ending on Monday when I lead back in to run after a nice break over the holidays . Sigh .   In the meantime , Six on Saturday . Six things , in the garden , on a Saturday . Could be anything – a blossom , a bulb , a creature , a job to do , a plan , anything at all . Join in !

Here are my Six for this week …

1 – Crocus tips . I planted these about a year ago , quite late . They flowered well enough , so I ’m hoping for good thing this year now that they have settled in . This one is among 50 - odd that I planted at the foot of the amelanchier ‘ robin hill ’ .

2 – Possible Pelargoniums . They are doubtlessly pellies , the point is that they may perchance survive the winter . I was going to compost the heap of them to make way for some wallflowers I ’ve had knocking around for eld . On closer inspection I could see that they are not yet quick to shuffle off this mortal roll . I take compassion on them , splitting the plants , trim any stagnant growth and large , bunk - prone leave the pot them up in 1L pot . They will spend the rest of the winter in the glasshouse . It seems a set of infliction for what were very basic plants but I did n’t have it in me to bin them .   credibly they wo n’t all survive , but if they do that ’s some plant life I wo n’t have to buy in the summer .

3 – Seeds , Rhodochiton atrosanguinea , purple bell vine .   Another climber , another newfangled to me . I have just the spot for it , on what is likely to be a crowded front garden fencing . Perennial in frost - free conditions , it ’s usually spring up as an annual here in the UK .

4 – Wallfowers , pot up .   I was given these calendar month ago but am only now getting around to doing something with them . Having exhume the pellies , I ’ve used the same pots for these . They should give some nice colour by the front door while we wait for the tulips to do their thang .

5 – Allium christophii . This is one of last class ’s bulbs , make a welcome return from the grave . I have plenty more of these waiting in the shed , I ’m looking onwards to a unspoilt show from them this yr .

6 – Jasmine , vanquished . A bit . If Michael Caine was watching , he might well have said something like “ you were only supposed to blow the fucking doors off ! ” .   Well , what does he know ? This plant life is a right thug . I regret ever plant it . So there .
