Marigolds have been on my thinker of late because I ’ve been start to collect their seeds . I was trying to call up recently when was the last meter I bought marigold seeds ; I genuinely could n’t return , so it must have been a while .

So while we can save seeds until lately in the year , we should n’t chance accumulate them too early on , when the seeds are n’t fully good for pick yet .

Some years I get some burgundy marigold surprises.
This was an easy one . The marigold on the right is not ready yet . It await dead , but it ’s not dry enough for the seminal fluid to come off . The left seed headspring and the midway one are more than quick to go .
If you ’re not sure whether the semen are dry enough for picking , test one with your finger nail . If the seed head feel crumbly to the touch and dry when you open up it up , it ’s ready for accumulation . The petals may still be attached . That ’s ok , as long as they ’re shriveled .
How to collect marigold seeds

How to store marigolds for planting next year
After I ’ve extracted all the seeds from their pods , I spread them on a tray on top of my kitchen cabinets for a couple of weeks ; I judge to remember to shuffle them a few times to make indisputable the source are dry on all side .
