Its woodland stage setting provides an ideal wildlife habitat . Among our visitors are these wild turkeys ( Meleagris californica ) who visit daily . At night they sleep in the oak trees , then awaken us in the morning with their distinctive gobbling call . Male “ tom ” show off their fanlike tail , simple principal and bright beard while the hens look on . The hens generally lie 4 - 17 eggs in March and April but predator fire termination in few survivors , as is observable by the hen and chicks . ”Happy Thanksgiving , everyone !
