Looking closely at beautiful blooms
My name is Bilgehan Ogel , and I dwell in Ankara , Turkey . Yes , a difficult part of the world politically , but also very rich in condition of nature . We do not have too much rain , 380 mm ( 15 inches ) per yr , and the average temperature is 11 ° degree Celsius ( 52 ° fluorine ) . This think of that watering is crucial in summer , and winter can be intense .
I have a small garden , 65 foot by 82 feet , with a small house in the middle . So I do n’t have a raft of space for a beautiful garden design . However , I have learned a passel fromFine horticulture . I just get laid to check the flowers at high magnification , so I am a sports fan of macro picture taking . Also , wildflowers take my attending a lot .
I enjoy bulb peak . I seek to plan my garden so that there will be peak throughout the early bound and summer .

Winters can be stale in Ankara , sometimes – 15 ° C ( 5 ° fluorine ) at night . The first blooming flowers in the spring are always the wild ones . Wild crocusis always the first one to bloom , even coming up through the Charles Percy Snow ! In late February , I always drive to the location where they bloom , which is 200 kilometre ( 124 miles ) from Ankara .
Irisreticulata(Zones 5–9 ) , hardy member of the garden — that ’s not my description , but I love it . It blooms just after the wild crocus , even in later February through the nose candy .
Now it is sentence for the narcissus and my best-loved crocus , the stripy crocus(Crocusvernus , Zones 3–8 ) .

Inverted tulip(Fritillariauva - vulpis , Zones 3–7 ) is native to Anatolia . I purchase a bulb three years ago . She loves nerveless , damp grime , which I do n’t have in my garden . However , she gives me two blooms every twelvemonth — but only two blooms , never three ! The flower is only 1 cm ( 0.4 inches ) in size .
When June make it , it is metre for the princess of the garden : iris . After a strong winter , the irises are happy ! This is thebearded iris‘English Cottage . ’ I was surprised when I looked at this peak intimately and saw how beautiful the bluish - empurpled lines on the flower petal were .
The whiskery irises : Iris‘Sen - Lac ’

Iris‘Pink Taffeta ’
When June arrive , it is time for lilies and Dahlia pinnata . Lilies are very sensitive . I have to protect them in cold weather with mulching . I think Asiatic lilies are more repellent than Oriental lily .
By the oddment of June , it is time for dahlias . They are a bit more demanding than the daffodil and fleur-de-lis . Watering is important . However , if you water too much , then mold can be a problem , especially in hot weather . However , I love especially the dinner plates . This picture is of dahlias and my girl .
