Unusual Garden Planter Ideas
You love how they say everyone has a doppelgänger ( biologically unrelated look - likewise ) ? Well I think I found my garden doppelgänger .
These idea come from Nicole Chin in Morisset Park , New South Wales , Australia—15,000 klick from my home here in Ontario , Canada — yet so in keeping with my own garden style .
Nicole derive across this web site while surfing for garden art idea and compose to share images of upcycled planters from her own garden . And they are simply charming . The combination of the vintage firearm and plantings are garden art perfection !

Come along as Nicole tells us about her garden .
1Rowboat Planter
The first garden feature we put in the chiliad was the old rowboat . It came from a property just down the route from us , and since we live on the Lake , almost everyone has a disused gravy boat in their backyard , all except us !
I found one which would suit being a jumbo plant peck and proceeded to take it with garden soil and Agaves , which absolutely thrive here .
The sauceboat is positioned at the end of our long private road and alarm visitors that they are approaching the house .

Our climate is quite temperate , so we do n’t get frosts or snow , and although we do see summertime temperatures over the 100 - degree mark , most of our garden survives as we also have above average rain here .
Our garden is full of magnanimous Eucalyptus trees ( Gum Trees ) so a peck of the garden has dappled ghost , which makes growing conditions great .
2Clawfoot Bathtub Planter
The bathtub number next , as I had always want a clawfoot bathing tub , but our privy in the star sign just would n’t accommodate one !
Next ripe matter was to have one in the garden .
We find an previous tub and fondly repaint it . The claw feet are painted in metal copper paint .

When I filled it with Agaves , I partially fill the bath with old styrofoam packing to keep down the weightiness and amount of pot mix required .
It sits outside our guest flank , and it is draw up by a hardwood screen . I want to add a vintage overhead showerhead as a water feature film in the time to come . I am still look for the perfect big old showerhead !

3Hand Basin
I was looking for a hand lavatory to complement the tub and hap to mention to a dear friend what I was look for .
She shout that she had one that she was going to use in a bathroom renovation , but decide to go ultra modern , so the vintage basin was surplus to her needs !
I was thrilled to in conclusion find one and site it at the entrance door to the house .

Everyone who come to visit see it as they take the air into the house .
Being a shallow basin , I sate it with a variety of succulents :
I swop out anything that gets too leggy , so it always looks bully .

4Toilet Planter
This was a natural addition to my get garden nontextual matter !
After renovating our bathroom , we had this toilet suite left over . I could n’t let it posture in the shed fresh .
It does raise a few supercilium , and I am guess of relocating it further into the garden .

The bowl has an Agave , and the cistern is planted out with more string of pearls , chalksticks ( Senecio Serpens ) and a film editing from another garden favourite : Pink Zygocactus .
5Gas Cooker Planter
This endearing addition came about , as I am always on the lookout for quirky garden features , and then it hit me ! I always wanted a vintage AGA cooking stove , but so far have n’t been able-bodied to renovate one into my aliveness ! One day I will find the unadulterated kitchen to have one .
When this lovely old relic appeared on our local online marketplace , I was smitten ! I am so rosy to have a very understanding husband , and after much heavy lifting the cooker is now securely entrenched in our garden .
I planted a couple of salvage sale saucepans ( after drilling holes in them first ) and planted a humble Agave , and some more chalksticks ( Senecio Serpens ) to simmer on the cooktop !

I also draped some grandfather ’s beard or Air Plant over the basketball backboard of the cooker .

I am currently working on a new garden space , with a bench can , so I can pose and watch out the grandchild encounter on the tyre swing . I am on the observation post for my next garden art piece .
