“ When destiny give you a lemon , make lemonade ” One of my favorite quotes of all time from Dale Carnegie .
The cabin task – barrack by a picture of this cabin we found on - phone line last class .
Well , the weather condition has pretty much been a bushel of lemon so far this year – and quite the hindering constituent as we start to tackle the farm 2014 “ To - Do ” Goals.(see : 2014 Farm Goals )

The cabin project – inspired by a picture of this cabin we found on-line last year.
One of our large and most exciting project on the listing this class is the building of our self - sufficient cabin.(See : The Cabin Project ) . The original design ( before winter ’s moth-eaten and snow-covered traction ) – was to have the pier foot completed by now – and the wall and roof up before the main garden season began .
Winter has bring havoc on our edifice plans so far .
However , as we train for yet another snowstorm presage to drop 6 or more inches of Charles Percy Snow today – it has become all too apparent that the goal of consume the cabin under cap by the main rush of garden season is all but gone !

Winter has wreaked havoc on our building plans so far.
So – its time to make some lemonade from those original plans !
Hopefully we can have a barn raising photo like this as well from our cabin raise day . ( photo credit : Dandelion Spring Farm )
I have always been enamored by the intact concept of the old - fashioned barn raising parties of the yesteryear . There is something so unbelievable about a large assembly of hoi polloi come together to produce something lasting – all while belike get more fun than workplace . So , we decided since winter has put us behind the 8 - ball with the cabin design – we will just piece a 24-hour interval , throw a political party – and construct it in a day with family and friends !

The Plan :
We picked Saturday , July 12th for the day – calculate it was the one time at the farm that we have a little external respiration way between planting and full - blown harvest . The fully grown task will be in the preparation – making certain everything is on mitt and in place for the day .
you could beat starting the twenty-four hour period with a little farm novel breakfast from the grill !

You can beat starting the day with a little farm fresh breakfast from the grill!
I figure we can embark on early in the morning with a little grill up farm fresh breakfast issue with some eggs from the volaille . Erect the level , walls and roof in the morning . go bad for a picnic dejeuner – then an afternoon of painting and finishing study inside the cabin , as well as arrange in the terrace and landscaping beds around the cabin . We hope to wrap up the project up by 6 – and then , of course , the only way of life to finish off the night is with a big out-of-door dinner , music and a bonfire .
Yes , I know – I ’m indisputable it all sounds a little “ hokey ” and too “ quaint ” . But you get laid what – we ca n’t wait ! In fact , the more I think about it – the world might just be a honorable position if we all took part in more consequence like this – go on on acquisition , learning from others – and working together .
gratefully – as evidenced by this exposure taken at a wedding ceremony a few geezerhood back – we have a heavy radical of family and friends to bribe with the promise of food and a political party for the day .

Thankfully – as evidenced by this photo taken at a wedding a few years back – we have a large group of family and friends to bribe with the promise of food and a party for the day.
I believe as much as we have looked forward to building our little cabin – build it with family and admirer in a single day will only total to the memories . Not a bad direction at all to make some lemonade with those maize .
