A flowery paradise on the coast

I ’m sending you some pic of my seaside garden in Asharoken , New York ( Zone 7 ) . I have gardened here for 37 age . My first garden began as my married man work up our home . I design the house , and he built it nearly on his own . While he worked , I created two half - circle beds and filled them with plant transfer from our previous home . I demand care to contribute my smalldaylilycollection with me . We were build up and planting on an extremely restrain budget , so pass - along plants were gladly accepted . Now , so many year later on , I have a collection of over 650 daylily cultivars , and my garden is a showing garden for the American Daylily Society . I also grow all kinds of other plants for both sun andshade .
The first photo is of what I call the yew layer . I limbed up the enormous yew(Taxussp . ) after realize it done at Wave Hill in New York . That yew is my grandson ’s preferent climbing Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree ! It is underplanted with hosta , fern , foxgloves , corydalisand now martagon lilies .

This photo is of the “ Bamboo Bed . ” I created a fencing from bamboo that I scavenged from a landscape gardener . The beautiful variegated initiative grass isMiscanthussinensisvar.condensatus‘Cosmopolitan ’ ( Zones 5–9).Sedum‘Autumn Fire ’ ( Zones 3–9),Carex‘Silver sceptre ’ ( Zones 5–9 ) , andAllium‘Summer Beauty ’ ( Zones 4–9 ) use up this garden along with daylilies , lilium , and other perennial . I have more late photos of this seam showing the change that I ’ve made .
And here is Northport Harbor , which is in what I call my front 1000 .
This is my white garden . The rock pathway is sink slightly below the garden on either side in decree to give it a more intimate feeling . This garden is planted with ointment or white flowering plants . The foliage colors are immature and chartreuse . Persicariapolymorpha(giant fleece flower , Zones 4–9 ) creates an impose morphologic element at the far end of the path , whileHydrangea serrata‘Shiro Fugi ’ ( zone 6–9 ) andHakonechloamacra‘All Gold ’ ( Zones 5–9 ) spillway over the rock’n’roll borders . There are over a dozen near - white daylilies planted within this garden . Hemerocallis‘Joyful Journey ’ is figure .

These daylily and lily are planted in a raised walled layer . Hemerocallis‘Handsome Prince ’ is in the foreground with yarrow(Achilleamillifolium , Zones 4–8 ) and jump campion(Lychniscoronaria , Zones 4–8 ) . H. ‘ Third Witch ’ is a very vigorous , inscrutable red daylily .
